Jamshid
& Khorshid
Once
upon a time somewhere in the old Iranian plateau…
Jamshid is a young shepherd who lives in a plain far from the city.
One day his friend, Mahan, urges him to go to the city where people
are preparing for a celebration which every body knows about it
except Khorshid Banou the daughter of the king.
The king, who doesn't have any son, has invited the princes of the
neighboring countries to participate in a competition and the winner
would be the king's so-in-law and also his successor. The party
has been prepared for the entrance of these princes. When Khorshid
knows the matter, she disagrees with such a forced marriage. She
doesn't want to be the prize of a competition. The king blames her
because she has rejected to accept the court astrologer's love.
Khorshid goes to the portico of the palace and this is the first
time that Jamshid sees her and an unknown feeling arises inside
his heart.
At
night, Khorshid escapes from the palace with the help of her jester.
The flight is successful, but on their way they encounter to wolves
attack. When everything seems to be finished, Jamshid comes about
and survives their lives. Eagerly, Jamshid gets surprised when he
understands that he has helped the very girl who was on the portico
of the palace in the morning. He gives asylum to Khorshid and they
become familiar with each other more and more.
Using astrolabe,
the astrologer finds Khorshid's hiding place and when some soldiers
come to bring her back, on a misunderstanding, Khorshid thinks that
Jamshid has shown her place to the soldiers of the king because
of having views to money and Jamshid's denial has no result.
Khorshid goes to
yield in a forced marriage. Jamshid who can not drop thinking of
Khorshid and on the other hand, has been accused for something not
to done, decides to participate in the competition.
When Khorshid arrives to the palace, the astrologer comes with a
marriage proposal for the last time, but he faces Khorshid's disagreement.
He takes a horrible action and unlike his master's strict advice,
goes through the dark side of knowledge and disguises to the prince
of darkness by a magic practice and then disappears in the middle
of night.
The competition
comes up and Jamshid who has already passed many hard exercises,
can defeat all his opponents. Meanwhile, a mysterious dwarf is watching
all the stages of the competition. At the end, when Jamshid becomes
the final winner of the match, he comes to take Khorshid's hand
but suddenly the evil astrologer arrives there riding on a huge
dragon and robs her.
At the moment, all people run away except Jamshid who is struggling
to survive Khorshid, but finally he loses the battle and faints
on the ground.
That night, when Jamshid wakes up, the mysterious dwarf old man
comes and introduces himself: The wise old man "Karam".
Karam says that he and his people live in a mountainous far country.
His people have discovered petroleum since many years ago and know
how to use oil in different ways. People of the mountainous country
use tar to make mortar for their buildings and to insulate ships.
They also use petroleum as a fuel. They benefit this useful substance
by interchanging it with other productions of other countries.
A kind bird named "Simourgh" protects the people and their
precious treasure. Many years ago, when some evil people (Gorgins)
attacked their land because of their oil, Jamshid's father who was
an old-alone fighter defended their land bravely. Karam continues
that the astrologer has already come to their land to kill the kind
Simourgh, to captivate the people, to capture all their oil-treasure
and to prison Khorshid in a mountain.
Then Jamshid, Karam, Gorgi and the new-born baby of Simourgh, which
is the memory of the kind protector of their land, are taking their
trip. One to release his land, one to reach his love and prove his
innocence and the last one would be the successor of her killed
mother and become the new protector of the mountains and the oil…

Their rough journey has already begun and our heroes are going throughout
the four passage of water, wind, soil and fire to reach the far
mountains. Khorshid who is now pessimist about Jamshid past, still
assumes that Jamshid has come to the country yet covetous for oil,
so she refuses asking for his help. But when Jamshid finds the sadness
of the Simourgh's baby and also the captivated people of the mountains,
stays there to fight. Every mountain people join him in this battle.
Indeed they use oil and natural gas which comes out of the ground
and they also use liquid tar to overcome the astrologer's army.
Finally, Jamshid defeats the astrologer in a duel battle. At this
moment that Khorshid sees Jamshid's devotions then what will be
her answer to his love but "yes".
